It's hard to believe we are already going into our 2nd month of dance already! Time sure flies when you're having fun! Just a reminder to everyone about a few dates to remember!

• New T-shirt orders due by October 1st! If you want one of our great new Fall shirts, please drop off your paid order form in the box at the studio anytime Saturday between 10 - 2:30. We will not be ordering extras of these shirts, so make sure to get your order in now!
• Company Dancers: Don't forget to get your WILD Dance Intensive registrations in by October 1st as well! We also need your permission slips to be considered for a solo,duet,trio or small group by next Tuesday at the latest!!!

*Don't forget that the $90 fee you paid prior to auditions is non-refundable and will be put toward your first month's class fees. If your class fees are more than $90 you will owe the difference during the first week of classes starting September 12th. If you were not placed in a company class, your monthly class fee will likely now be less than $90 and the difference will be on your account to go toward your October class fees.

*The company/class you are in may change what Hip Hop class you will be allowed to take even if you have pre-registered for it. Monday Hip Hop is Blue Company & Teen dancers. Company Auditions 2011 -2012: August 30th & 31st

Interested in trying out for one of our competitive dance companies?

Tuesday, August 30th	Wednesday, August 31st
Level I: Minimum age of 8; 4:30 p.m. – 6:15 p.m. Level II: Minimum age of 13; Group 1: 6:30 – 8:15 p.m. Group 2: 8:30 – 10:15 p.m. Student will learn a Lyrical/Ballet, Jazz & Tap combination on this day!	Students will Audition the 3 combinations they learned on the 30th in front of a panel of judges. They will be given an exact time to return for their tryout on August 31st.

***Ages for auditions are also based on levels of dance. Ages 8 & Up are similar to Level I at Dance Camp and Ages 13 and Up will be Level II. Dancers should look at the Levels described in the Camp handout to see where they should audition. Any dancer is welcome to bump down to the Level I audition if they feel necessary, but no dancer 12 and under may bump up to the Level II audition unless they are approached by Spotlight Faculty to do so. If you are new to Spotlight, are in the in between age range, or are unsure for any reason about which audition to come to please speak to Dede or Lindsay and they will guide you to the appropriate audition for you. Attending dance Camp will also be great way to make sure you are dancing in the correct audition level.***

If you are chosen for a company, you can look forward to dance competitions, guest instructors and dance conventions! We hope to see you at auditions!

SPOTLIGHT DANCER OF THE YEAR 2011

Denise has been dancing for Spotlight for 7 years, and has been a member of the Blue, White and Red companies, along with Junior Adagio, Senior Adagio and Funkdafied. She has also competed many times over the years in small groups and trios, and her trio this year “The Garden” received 6th and 7th overall in Senior Duo/Trios at competition. Denise is currently a senior at Powers Catholic High School, with plans to go to Western Michigan University in the fall, to train to become an Air Traffic Controller. Denise has worked extremely hard this year to truly make her senior year with us her best yet and her dedication, determination and overall commitment to dance over this past year makes us proud to award her this honor.

Concert 2011

Next week is our Spring Concert 2011! Don't forget that all rehearsals and shows take place at the U of M Flint Theatre. The University Theatre is located at the corner of Wallenberg and Kearsley Streets downtown Flint. Mailing address: 303 E. Kearsley Street, Flint, MI 48502. Below is a recap of next week's schedule!

Monday, May 9th: Full Company picture on the stage at 5 p.m. sharp followed by a non-costume rehearsal for COMPANY, ADAGIO & FUNKDAFIED DANCERS ONLY!

Tuesday, May 10th: FULL COSTUME DRESS REHEARSAL! Make sure to wear your costumes and have your hair and make-up done as if it were the real show!

• 4 p.m.: Miss Val's Tuesday 3 & 4's class Dress Rehearsal on the Stage


• 4:30 p.m.: Miss Carissa's Tuesday 5,6 & 7's class Dress Rehearsal on the stage


• 5:30 p.m.: All other Spotlight dancers in the 8, 9 & 10's class and Up must be ready in their first costume of the show and onstage at 5:30 sharp! We will run throught the finale first and then the 3 - 7 year old dancers will be free to leave. This will be a long night, so parents please make sure dancers have plenty of water and snacks. This will be our longest rehearsal!

Wednesday, May 11th: FULL COSTUME DRESS REHEARSAL! Make sure to wear your costumes and have your hair and make-up done as if it were the real show!

• 4 p.m.: Miss Lindsay & Miss Brittany's Saturday 3 & 4's class Dress Rehearsal on the stage.


• 4:30 p.m: Miss Lindsay & Miss Brittany's Saturday 5,6 & 7's class Dress Rehearsal on the stage.


• 5:30 p.m.: All other Spotlight dancers in the 8, 9 & 10's class and Up must be ready in their first costume of the show and onstage at 5:30 sharp! We will run the finale first and then the 3 -7 year old dancers will be free to leave. We try to run the show without stopping on this rehearsal, so dancers should be out of the theatre at a good time.

Thursday, May 12th: Show #1 @ 7 p.m.: All dancers in this show are called to the theatre at 6 p.m.

Friday, May 13th: Show #2 @ 7 p.m.: All dancers in this show are called to the theatre at 6 p.m.

Saturday, May 14th: Show #3 @ 2 p.m. & Show #4 @ 7 p.m.: All dancers in these show are called to the theatre at 1 p.m. for the matinee & 6 p.m. for the evening performance.

Tickets sales for Concert 2011 start today, Sunday, March 27th!!! Come get your initial set of Concert 2011 tickets that you are given with your recital fee this today from 1 - 3:30 p.m. Tickets will not be given or saved to anyone who is not paid in full through May. All monthly payments through May, Costume Fees, Recital Fees and Competition Fees must be paid in full. You can pay your bill at ticket sales. ALL TICKET SALES ARE FINAL. We will not be organizing any exchanging of tickets! Thunderstruck Competition

Competition Results!!!

This past weekend our Red, White & Blue Company and Teen Adagio dancers attended the Rainbow Connection Regional Dance Competition at Waterford Mott High School. For the first time ever, all 6 of our full company routines received the highest scoring level of Double Platinum! We are so unbelievably proud of all of our dancers and can't wait to see them compete again this coming weekend too at Thunderstruck's Regional Competition at Walled Lake Northern High School!

Our kids proved this weekend that we truly are the BEST DANCE STUDIO IN GENESSE COUNTY! With all of your help we can win this award through the Flint Journal too! ALL COMPANY AND TEEN ADAGIO DANCERS!!!
We WILL still be having our FULL COMPANY REHEARSAL held at Court Street United Methodist Church tomorrow from 5:30 - 9:00. The address is 225 West Court Street, and is located Downtown Flint.

This rehearsal is for all dancers who are competing in the upcoming competitions and runs from 5:30 – 9:00 p.m. (NO COSTUMES; Wear appropriate dance attire and bring all shoes! Funkdafied, you DO need to bring your costume and prop) All dancers competing are called at 5:30; we will be making our way through all of the routines starting with the large groups. We will try to get the Blue company dancers out first. BE READY TO DANCE AT 5:30!!!
