DeCamp's Spotlight School of Dance: Season 18

HELLO! We are in the process of putting details together for our return to the studio for Fall of 2020; our 18th season of dance. If you were a Spotlight student for our 2019 - 2020 season, please make sure you've returned your pre-registration card if you plan on dancing. If you danced last season, but still need a card, please email us at decampspotlight@yahoo.com. If you are NEW to our Spotlight family and would like more information, please email us as well. This Fall will undoubtedly look a bit different from our 17 previous years, but we are committed to getting back into the studio. We will do everything in our power to make Spotlight a place of safety and inspiration for all of our dancers and staff. We will update ASAP!  

Studio Closure

All in studio classes are not being held currently due to COVID-19. All dance families have received our detailed plan, via email, on how we will be moving forward with our dance season. Please contact us via phone or email if you have any questions.

It is crazy how fast our first semester has flown by! Please make sure your account balance is paid in full by the last day of our first semester, Thursday, 12/19 so your dancer can return to the studio for our 2nd semester! 

Visitation week starts Saturday, December 14 - Thursday, December 19. There will be NO Visitation at the MAIN STUDIO on 12/19 due to the Company party/rehearsal that is a mandatory company event running from 5 - 8 p.m. All dancers will be done at 8 p.m. that night. If you'd like to send in any snacks to pass we know the dancers will love to gobble them up!

If you placed an online Spotlight gear order, those items should be in shortly, and we will send a text once they are ready for pick up at the studio! 

We are on holiday break from Friday, December 20 - Friday, January 3rd. Classes start back up as usual on Saturday, January 4th. We hope you all have a wonderful holiday break and that the dancers come back refreshed to kick things into high gear for our 2nd semester of dance!

Funkdaifed & Adagio 2019 - 2020

Congrats to the dancers who were selected for this year's Funkdafied & Adagio Teams. All 3 teams have their first class this Sunday! See below for class time, and we will see you all then.

Thank you to everyone who came out for these groups. If you didn't get selected, please remember that we love you and want to help you achieve your goal. Keep working hard this year, and we hope to see you back at auditions next season!

Audition results 2019 - 2020

2019 -2020 CLASSES START MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 9TH!

After much deliberation, we are excited to announce our placements for our 2019- 2020 season. We would like to thank you all for coming out for a dance company for our 17th season of dance! This was truly a record year for our auditions with 83 brave and talented kids who came out for one of our teams. We can’t thank you enough for being such a special part of the studio. You all did a great job, and we truly appreciate your dedication and hard work. We are very proud of each and every one of you. We are so excited about this next dance season, and we feel confident that we have place you appropriately to compliment your ability levels. Please trust us in our decision and we will definitely have a great year! Please remember that these decisions are final. Please do not call in attempt to change the results. If we feel that any placements need to be changed, we will approach the dancer after a few weeks of class. We have saw so much improvement in all of you over this past season, and we can't wait to keep pushing you and seeing your technique grow and mature over this next season. 


We will be updating your accounts asap to reflect audition results as well as the add on classes you will be taking. If you have set up your online account, you will then be able to pay your remaining September tuition balance. Updated statements will be sent once your accounts are updated and ready for payment. Remember that you've already paid a non-refundable $150 tuition fee at registration that will go toward your September tuition! Thank you again for auditioning, and we will see you the week of September 9th!

2019 - 2020 COMPANY AUDITION MUSIC

RECITAL WEEK SCHEDULE & SUMMER CLASSES 2019

We are so excited for everyone to see this year's 16TH ANNUAL SPRING CONCERT, and to see all of our students shine up in the SPOTLIGHT! There will be a sheet posted at the Theatre to help assist in the re-sale of tickets. Please remember that all re-sales will be handled between ticket holders. Don't forget that classes continue in the studio until Sunday May 5th. Starting Monday, May 6th all rehearsals will be down at the U of M Flint Theatre.

CONCERT 2019 REHEARSAL & PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE!

Don't forget about next week's Spring Concert rehearsals and shows! Everything scheduled during this week is held at the U of M Flint Theatre. There are NO CLASSES held at the studio next week! The schedule is as follows:

Monday: May 6th

• 5:00 p.m.: Red, White & Blue Company, Adagio & Funkdafied dancers only! (No costumes on this day. BRING ALL SHOES & wear dance attire!)

Tuesday: May 7th -

Full costume dress rehearsal! This will be our longest night! Thank you for your patience and cooperation!! Dancers will be allowed to sit in the audience when they are not dancing at this rehearsal.

• 4:00 p.m.: Miss Emileigh's Saturday 3 & 4's
• 4:30 p.m.: Miss Kacy's Saturday 5, 6 & 7's
• 5:30 p.m.: All other dancers in 7, 8 & 9's and UP! 

Starting at 5:30 we will run through the Finale with ALL DANCERS. Once this is through and all announcements are made, we will excuse the 3 -7 year old dancers and then start at the top of the show. This will be a late night. We will have to stop and start to make sure all 7 and Up non-company dances are blocked on stage for the dancers. Once dancers have done all of their routines, they will be free to leave because we already ran through the Finale at 5:30!

Wednesday: May 8th-

Full costume dress rehearsal! This rehearsal will run as close to the show as possible! Feel free to come and watch! Having an audience makes it a more real experience for the dancers and there is no charge! We also are in need of parent volunteers to help with the dancer’s backstage for this rehearsal. Dancers will NOT be allowed in the audience because we treat this just like a show!

• 4:00 p.m.: Miss Emileigh's Wednesday 3 & 4's (Both classes)
• 4:30 p.m. Miss Quinnay & Sarah’s Tuesday 5, 6 & 7's (Both classes)
• 5:30 p.m.: All other dancers in 7, 8 & 9's and UP!

Starting at 5:30 we will run through the Finale with ALL DANCERS. Once this is through and all announcements are made, we will excuse the 3 -7 year old dancers and then start at the top of the show. We only stop if there is an emergency reason, we should be out by a good time on this night! 

Thursday: May 9th: Evening Show

• Dancers called at 6 p.m.
• Show starts at 7 p.m.

Friday: May 10th: Evening Show

• Dancers called at 6 p.m.
• Show starts at 7 p.m.

Saturday: May 11th: Matinee & Evening Shows

• Dancers called for the Matinee at 12 noon
• Matinee starts at 1 p.m.
• Dancers called for the Evening show at 5 p.m.
• Evening show starts at 6 p.m.

Sunday: May 13th: Matinee Show

• Dancers called for the Matinee at 12 noon
• Matinee starts at 1 p.m.

USHERS & BACKSTAGE VOLUNTEERS:

If you are signed up to work as an Usher or Backstage we will need you to be at the Theatre 1 hour prior to the start of the show and find Danielle Baszler. Danielle is our backstage coordinator and she will give you direction from there!

Concert Ticket Sales 2019

All dancers have now received a purple handout in class with all the details you need

to select your first set of free recital fee tickets on Saturday, 4/6 with you ticket code. Your account balance MUST be paid in full for your code to be activated for the sale. On Saturday, all questions need to be called into the Tutu Tix call center.

Classes have now begun for our 2nd semester! This part of the year is exciting and jam packed with preparation for our Winter competitions and Spring Concert in May! Here are upcoming dates to keep in mind. You will be getting this as a handout in your dancer's class this week as well!

Dancer of the Month & Visitation Week!

Don't forget that our yearly visitation week runs Saturday, 12/15 - Thursday 12/20. Our company holiday party/rehearsal is Thursday 12/20 from 5 -8, so there is no visitation at the main studio that night. Our 789s will have it in the mini studio.

Our holiday break runs Friday, 12/21 = Friday, 1/4, with classes resuming as usual on Saturday, 1/5. Make sure that your 1st semester account balance is PAID IN FULL by 12/20 so that your dancer can return for our 2nd semester in January! 

We hope you all have an amazing holiday break, and we can't wait to see you in 2019!
